Food Preservation - Intercultural Event

Event Highlights:
- PowerPoint Presentation:Interactive presentation of ancient ways to preserve food in different cultures, the significance of bread for Ukrainians and a reason of conservation.
- Exhibition:Traditionally preserved food, Wheat and Ukrainian bread, displayed propaganda for food conservation in Canada during the WWI and WWII, bullet casings from a large-caliber machine gun used for the liberation of Kharkiv in 2022, a nose cone from a rocket launched by Uragan in Ukraine and a suggested book to read “Red Famine” by Anne Applebaum.

- Intercultural food presentation of Ottawa communities:Latvian community and Baltic Canadian Council with Andris Kesteris, Daina Brauns and Solvita Raliktko. Traditional meal pīrāgi !

- Iranian family:Hooman, Azadeh and Masi! Traditional dishes: Tahchin and stuffed eggplant pickles!
- French family: Elisabeth Richard and Sasha! Traditional dishes: Ratatouille from the South of France and Flan aux pommes!
- The United States community:Kerry McElroy! Traditional dessert of the Southern America!
- Ukrainian community:Viktoriia Babych, Viktoriia Kis and Ivanna Ostrovska! Traditional dishes: cabbage rolls, Vinaigrette and dessert!
